I have to give Scala Pastry five stars because they make my favorite New York style cheesecake ever. I am not exaggerating! The other cookies and desserts are great, and the prices are very reasonable, but the cheesecake is what will keep me coming back. It's creamy and rich, not too sweet, nor too heavy, and available as a full cake or miniature servings. For years and years, my aunt and uncle always got cheesecake from here when I visited. Unfortunately, the pandemic forced us apart longer than anyone would've liked. I kept saying 'I wish I knew where they got the cheesecake.' Finally, I asked for the name and visited when I was in town. Wow! More than five years later, and the cheesecake was just as good as I remember. I also picked up a struffoli and some assorted cookies. Next time I'll try a hamantaschen, too. And, of course, the cheesecake will always be my go-to dessert here.

Friendly staff with authentic Italian pastry. The Sfogliatelle is the best outside of Bensonhurst. When you walk in a burst of sugar scent wafts through the air. Cassata cakes can be made to order if you call ahead for Paulie's number. I recommend stopping in for some butter, an elephant ear, or for a nice selection of cakes.

My family and I have been coming here for years. They have the best Italian cakes and pastries. The cakes, pastries, and breads are always freshly made and delicious. The pignoli nut cookies are phenomenal! Tip: Just don't go hungry because you will buy everything!

I went here for some pasteurized for my boyfriend's birthday/Valentine's Day. He's a stickler when it comes to cannolis and elephant ears but loved both of them! The girl at the counter was super helpful, the prices were great, and there was pretty decent variety (including some savory foods as well!) Giving 4 stars because the lemon coconut cake was drier than I thought it'd be, and same thing with the lemon pound cake. But the flavor was good!

Happy to have a little slice of Brooklyn heaven in NorthBrunswick! Everything is fresh and delicious. Can't go wrong. They even have empanadas, which are delicious! Beautiful Italian bakery!! Just the smell of the place when you walk in is to die for

Scala Italian Bakery, although small in terms of square footage, is huge in selection and quality! Incredible Italian Pastry Shop Bakery. Great bread and cakes for any occasion! Amazing donuts on the weekends. Perfect Cannolis! Their donuts are great! Last of the independent Bakeries, good selection of items and reasonably priced. Flan is great and great selection of butter cookies.

This place is heaven. When people ask what I miss about living in NY, it's bakeries like this that are my answer. The cookies, cupcakes (not shown), and other items were all delicious. Will definitely stop again when in NJ.
